The Krakovo estate, not far from Sevnica, was enriched in 2006 by a new, modern Mastnak wine cellar. The roots of the past intertwine with the history of the Trupej and Lipovšek families, who over 250 years built a tradition of trading in timber and wine — modern and progressive for its time. The focus on winegrowing was sealed by Ivan Mastnak, who married into the Lipovšek family. From these family roots, winemaker Zdravko Mastnak proved his talent, honing his knowledge for 22 years at the central Cviček cellar in Krško. Six years ago he decided to continue on his own path — building a new, modern wine cellar on the Krakovo estate, and building and strengthening the image of the Mastnak brand in the still wines Cviček and Blaufränkisch, and in the sparkling wines Valentina and Valvasor.

The completed modern facility, spanning 1,400 m² with a 600 m² wine cellar and a capacity of 300,000 bottles, with its beautifully appointed underground cellar spaces, captivates every visitor. Deep underground are dedicated areas for grape processing, a modern section with new winemaking technology, an ageing area for sparkling wines produced by the classic method of bottle fermentation, and a special section for ageing Modra frankinja.

Winemaker Zdravko Mastnak, agricultural engineer, together with his family, crafted superior sparkling wines of Slovenian geographical origin in two cellars on the attractive vineyard site of Zajčja gora above Sevnica. For several years now, he has been carrying on this noble craft at the estate in Krakovo. The Mastnak family's winemaking tradition is already 25 years old.

Since this spring, our cellar has been enriched with a new, state-of-the-art automatic bottling line from an Italian manufacturer. It is suitable for filling bottles of all sizes, with a daily capacity of 4,000 bottles.

The new premises above the cellar (800 m²) allow for additional activities:

In short, the Mastnak wine cellar is a cellar of charming sparkling wines and Blaufränkisch. The Krakovo estate has forged a special business partnership with the Selo estate in Radohova vas (Martin Odlazek), as together, hand in hand, they produce and market Cviček PTP.
