Appearance: Rum is dark amber, golden to brownish in color, with a slight viscous “leg” on the glass.
Aroma: On the nose, coffee, molasses, and caramel stand out, linked to a gentle woody note reminiscent of maple syrup. Also present is well-charred woodiness, more caramel-like notes, and some roasted walnut, along with a slight oxidized edge.
Palate: The flavor is rather light and less “heavy” than you might expect, yet it remains true to the traditional Spanish style of rum: caramel, vanilla, toasted wood, and a touch of tobacco. The coffee is more subdued this time.
Finish: The finish is quite characteristic and medium in intensity. Maple syrup lingers on the taste buds for a long time.
