Appearance: The rum is presented in a glass with a warm amber-mahogany color, slightly darker than standard golden rums, with bright reflections that suggest rich aging and woody notes.
Aroma: The aromas are complex; charred wood notes dominate, accompanied by a slight smokiness. Then come notes of coffee, dried fruit (berries, cherries), and vanilla. In the background, roasted notes can also be detected, provided by the “heavy char” casks.
Palate: The taste is full and rich, with a distinct structure. Vanilla and wood pair beautifully with sweet and dried fruits; espresso/coffee adds depth, along with a faint note of chocolate or dried fruit. The acidity is not dominant; the body is robust, yet not too heavy, with added complexity from aging and filtering.
Finish: The aftertaste is long, with a lasting presence of woody tones, vanilla, and dried fruit, a slight hint of the bitterness of wood, yet still balanced enough to leave a pleasant sensation of warmth and satisfaction. Suitable to drink neat or with ice.
