Appearance: Mature garnet red with brick and orange edges. Lighter core, reflecting its age.
Aroma: Tertiary aromas: tobacco, leather, undergrowth, cedar, smoke, coffee, old wood, dried mushrooms, dried plums. The fruit (blackcurrant, plums) is usually already quite subdued.
Taste: Dry, still with perceptible tannins, which have softened considerably over half a century. Medium to full body. The taste is more earthy, tertiary than fruity; more elegance than power.
Finish: Medium-long finish, with a note of dried fruit, cedar, and leather.
