Why is our wine special? Our grapes ripen in high-quality soils on the green hills of Goriška Brda, in a small private cellar steeped in heritage and tradition, where warm Mediterranean air meets cool Alpine wind. The grapes are caressed and worked according to an authentic technique and recipe, which gives the wine its distinctive character. We harvest the grapes by hand, and for the wine that is submerged in the pure blue Adriatic Sea, only the very best are selected. A year later, the luxurious sparkling wine Mare Santo® is born.

Why the sea? Where did this idea come from? It was conceived by the esteemed Slovenian winemaker Igor Tomažič, a passionate man devoted to perfection, who drew on old Slovenian traditions. In the past, wines were always cooled in streams in the vineyards, since there were no refrigerators. It often happened that a bottle was forgotten there until spring, or even the following season. During that time, the forgotten wine would transform, and the locals came to prize the exquisite flavor it developed. Tomažič took it a step further. He began submerging bottles in the nearby Adriatic Sea.
